Brent’s Bullet – Week #8 – August  21st

Our Rotary Story this week is from the Rotary Club of Ocala.  Rotarian Mona Doss developed a vision for fellow veterans three years ago after she discovered a group of duplexes in need of rehabilitation.  She looked beyond the leaky roofs and damaged walls envisioning an oasis for homeless veterans, naming it “Ocala Veterans Community”  Mona used her retirement savings to purchase (11) duplexes.  After being nearly emotionally exhausted on her solo endeavor she is now partnering with non-profit Florida Veteran Communities to provide proper housing for veterans.

Mona exemplifies Rotarians as “PEOPLE of ACTION”…making a difference to veterans in Ocala!

The District Summer Seminar was a huge success with over (160) Rotarians attending this past weekend, a huge THANK YOU for all of those who attended taking time out of their busy weekend!

Added to the District website are the foundation seminar presentation materials from last Saturday.  You will find them under Club Assist>Resource Library>2017 Foundation Seminar Resource Materials.

A big shout out to our own Past District Governor Art MacQueen who received the Rotary International Foundation “Meritorious Service Award” for his commitment, hard work and dedication to the Rotary Foundation!

The Rotary Theme for August is MEMBERSHIP and I encourage each of you to invite someone to have breakfast, lunch or dinner (whatever time your Club meets) with some of your best friends for fellowship and fun!!

 Have a FUN week!!
